ABSTRACT
This course on Pattern Recognition techniques is concerned with the theory and algorithms of representing objects by patterns, through measurements and observations made on physical objects. In the first part are presented various classification methods such as nearest-neighbor classification, classifier combination and clustering (k-means, hierarchies). Next other major components of pattern recognition as syntactical and structural methods for pattern recognition are presented. In the second part it will focus on applications of pattern recognition techniques to problems of machine vision. The course will have a strong hands-on component, and a Java language knowledge is required and developed during the course
